Artist Biography
David Maple was born in England in 1964. His artistic outsight started at a young age. By the time he was 12 years old he was carving decorative bird carvings in wood and competing with them in the World Wildfowl Carving Competitions in Ocean City, MD. In his late 20’s early 30’s he began working in steel and bronze. In the winter of 2006 he experimented with acrylic paint, wood panel, steel and iron dust, Japanese Rice Paper, chemicals used in the patinization of bronze, and found objects. His paintings were warmly embraced and this set off a chain of events that would bring him back to Santa Fe, NM. David has an AAS degree in Dental Technology and Maxillo Facial Prosthetics, a certificate in Business Management and Marketing, and schooling in Farrier Science. He has no formal education in art but instead has had the opportunity to be in the presence and observe some very talented artist’s and people. He and his wife with their three children live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
